20 Things You Should Probably Know And Do If You’re Single In Your 20s:
You won’t be single forever!
Make sure you’re friends with other single people – being surrounded by couples all the time is depressing.
Put yourself out there.
But also know when you need to look after yourself. Sometimes, wine and a movie on the sofa is more productive and nurturing than another (shite) date.
There will be couples who met on Tinder / Bumble / Hinge / Match (etc. etc.) – just remember this is not the norm. If online dating isn’t working for you, throw in the towel.
Remember that being single can be better than being in a really bad relationship.
Hang out where the kind of person you want to attract will hang out.
If starting something with a guy feels forced, that’s because it is and you need to consider if it’s worth pursuing.
Checking your phone will not make him text you. Ignore your phone for a while, put it on aeroplane mode or leave it upstairs and go out.
Guys will upset you. You will upset guys.
Actions speak louder than words. Guys will say things to you that fill your heart with joy. Some guys will act on your vulnerabilities. Then some of them won’t do what they said they would. Ditch these boys. Be sure to not be a hypocrite – do the things you say you’ll do.
Remember that past relationships ended for a reason.
Know what your values are. Know what you want from a relationship. Don’t settle for less.
Some friends will offer shit advice, some friends will offer great advice. Know who to talk to at different times of need.
Get a bloody hobby!
If you can, travel. No one ever regrets going to new places; only that they didn’t. Before you know it, you’ll be married or have children or life will ‘get in the way’ and then it will become a whole lot harder to book a long, or last-minute, trip.
Energy creates energy.
Know what makes you happy and do loads of it.
Smile. Happy people are more attractive. Be the kind of energy you want to attract.
