8 Things Guys Wish Women Knew When Dating

As a woman, have you ever spoken to a male friend about a guy you are or perhaps aren’t dating and he’s given you his thoughts only for you to think, “Ohhh, that makes sense”?

During my decade of dating, I was lucky enough to have men in my life I could call upon to help me translate and decode what the men I were chatting with were really thinking. Recently, I called upon these men here present to ask them:

What do you wish women knew when you’re dating?

1. If we want to see you again, we’ll make it happen

So often, women find themselves making excuses for a man about why he hasn’t messaged. He’s gone to Glasgow for the weekend; he’s really busy at work; his cat just died. The guy has his phone with him. He’ll text you to set a date if he’s interested.

2. We don’t want drama

If we dated your friend and she’s got a problem with us now dating, we’ll probably steer clear. There are plenty more women available without the drama attached.

3. If we sleep with you on the first date, we’ll probably think differently of you

Not necessarily worse, but certainly different.

4. When we’re actively dating, we want you to offer to plan some of the dates

It takes the pressure away from guys always planning the dates and choosing activities can be a helpful way to show your personality.

5. It’s okay to make the first move

Men can feel shy or nervous, too. We don’t always want to be the ones initiating a first kiss.

6. Playing “hard to get” doesn’t work

If it’s too much effort to see you again, we probably won’t bother. But don’t be too eager; find the balance of interested yet laidback.

7. Don’t text us constantly and don’t keep asking, “How are you?”

Wait for us to reply rather than double texting. If we’re interested in you, we’ll get back to you. We’re more likely to be interested if you have substance to your messages so we can get to know each other.

8. For god’s sake, don’t nag us

If you’re a nag over text, you’re probably a nag in real life. Dating should be fun.
