What Should I Have in my Bondage Kit?

So you’re looking to create your very own BDSM Box.

Good on you! Bondage kits from sex toy shops are often (coincidentally?) priced at £69.99 and there always seems to be something missing or something you don’t quite know how to use.

Here’s a handy guide on what you need in a BDSM kit, whether you’re just starting out or going the full hog (tie).

You can get all this equipment from good sex toy shops or a hardware store. I intentionally haven’t included any links because this isn’t an affiliated post, it’s nice to have free reign to decide where to buy sex toys and the Internet is saturated by blog posts promoting specific sex toys and bondage gear.

Bondage Starter Kit – For Newbies

Starting out in the world of BDSM and looking to create a little box of wonders to tease and tantalise? Go softly, softly. Think luxury fabrics; silky ties or ribbon; velvet etc.

For your bondage for beginners set, you’ll need:

  • Padded adjustable handcuffs
  • Soft blindfold or eye mask
  • Sensory instruments: feather tickler, a pinwheel
  • Soft cat o’ nine tails flogger
  • Anal beads
  • Bullet vibrator, vibrating cock ring and Tenga Egg
  • Nipple suckers
  • Massage candle or oil
  • Lube
  • Safety shears (scissors if you must)

If you’re a little more versed in the world of BDSM, you might want to elevate your BDSM box. Perhaps you’d like to introduce another restraint system or play around with power and try a collar…

Horny Bastard Bondage Kit – For Explorers

  • Ball gag (make sure it has air holes)
  • Wrist and ankle cuffs
  • Blindfold
  • Butt plug (it’s best to start small and work your way up to a larger butt plug – if that’s your vibe)
  • Under mattress restraints
  • Nipple clamps
  • Hitachi wand (these can be cordless or plug into the mains and are surprisingly quiet)
  • A low-impact paddle and flogger
  • Hot wax drip candles (regular candles won’t do – use a candle specially designed for wax play)
  • Collar and/or leash
  • Over-the-door sex swing
  • Cock ring
  • Lube
  • Safety shears (scissors if you must)

Maybe you’ve been in the Scene for a while. In that case, you need the Veteran Bondage Kit for experienced kinksters.

Kinky Bitch Bondage Kit – For Veterans

  • Bondage tape
  • Sounding tool (make sure this is specifically designed to be inserted into the urethra, don’t just shove anything into your penis)
  • Spreader bar
  • Nipple and clit clamps
  • Strap-on dildo
  • Rope – jute rope is traditionally used in shibari but cotton or hemp rope can also be effective. Avoid buying rope that has a small diameter as this can cause more harm than intended; aim for 5mm or thicker
  • Cane or riding crop
  • Chastity cage (don’t lose the key!)
  • Safety shears (because we should have some by now)

These won’t fit in your box…

  • Sybian
  • Throne or queening chair
  • Sex swing
  • St Andrew’s cross

Explore safely and have fun getting kinky.
